Our 3rd visit and still as good as ever.
I recommend a pamper at the local Spa, luxury pedicure (1.5hrs 12.50 euros) & a manicure (1hr 6.50 euros) amazing!.
Castro Verde has more to offer than first realised, you have to explore a little. Beautiful West Coast - Vila Nova de Milfontes never fails to WOW & Impress us even though its our 4th visit in 8 years.

We had a lovely time in this marvellous cottage - appreciated the friendly hosts
and your recommendations. The kids loved to feed the pigs, especially the piglets (named "Brave") Also Maggie became their favourite - such a nice kind dog and wonderful to play with. Thank you.

Seven days was not enough, sorry to be leaving such a beautiful place. Will be back for sure, there is no better therapy than to sit or walk around these surroundings. Thank you for creating this oasis of relaxation. Horse Riding in Alcaria Alto  - never ridden before, but one of the best things I have ever done.

In our experience a unique place, such high quality in a quiet rural area but close to town. Even the teenagers said it was good so it must be special.

Friends recommendation, we can now see their platitudes have been justified. Wonderful location, hospitality & accommodation, best "relaxing" holiday we have had. Looking though the guest book, lots of repeat visitors, I suspect we will join their ranks.

"Monte da Quinta, located in the beautiful Alentejo region, offers the ideal combination
of ingredients for a perfect holiday"

We loved our cottage Casa Oliveira with the spacious shady terrace, the large rooms with separate bathrooms (incl the perfect shower), the swimming pool including the small
pool where our three-year old girl wanted to play all day and the wonderful view over the Alentejo hills! Also the presence of the working farm was
really nice: it meant feeding the ducks, pigs and chickens every morning and seeing
the sheep passing by every day accompanied by a real shepherd. Not something we see every day in the city...Besides the animals of the farm,
we also enjoyed the company of  owls, swallows, storks and other beautiful birds.

This, combined with
the relaxed and
friendly presence of
the owners Michaela and Nigel, the weather conditions, the Portuguese lifestyle (food, wine) and the beautiful surroundings of the Alentejo, are for us the ingredients for
a perfect holiday.

And, needless to say, we hope to return soon!

Swimming Pool

Our uniquely designed Azul pool measures 11.5 x 5 meters and is a level 1.5 meters deep, ideal for even the non swimmers. Situated within the landscaped areas immediately to the front of the cottages, with its elevated position providing a fantastic vantage point for the stunning southerly views.

Upper pool terrace

No Chemical Chlorines
The pool uses a gentle balance of natural salt rather than chemical chlorines, the water contains approximately 10 percent the salt level
in sea water.

Pool terrace a stunning view point

Children’s Shallow Play Pool
Incorporated in the main pool is a 4 meter circular shallow children’s play pool with seating.

Landscaped Grounds

Upper Pool Terrace
Special non slip pavers surround the pool area. Ample loungers with mattresses, sun shades and seating are provided.

Lower Terrace
This terrace offers a little more shelter, seclusion and privacy although still maintains a elevated position with stunning views of Monte da Quinta and the surrounding meadows. An ideal spot to relax, read a book and enjoy a bottle of local wine.

Sheltered lower terrace

Outside Shower
An outside shower is located on the upper pool terrace.

 Reception & Laundry Room

Reception and Laundry Facilities
Our reception and laundry facilities are located between the main entrance and the cottages.

General Terraces
Much thought was given to the planning of the landscaped gardens. We have tried to ensure privacy for our guests and given consideration to the planting in order to create an attractive and relaxing environment. We have included a small Herb garden for our guests to use.

Bananas from the Balearics

BBQ Terraces

Each cottage has a large private terrace with a charcoal BBQ providing the perfect elevated position to wine and dine at any time during the day or evening.

Wild Poppies & Orange Trees in the Horta

Our Working Farm

Explore the 12 acres (4.5 hectares) of Olive, Almond, Fig, and Pomegranate trees. The farm consists of various paddocks for our livestock and open arable grass pastures.

We grow our own hay dotted with yellow and blue lupins, seeded by hand in October and harvested in May.
During late November we
hand pick our fat black olives. Cleaned and sorted we transport them to the local press and return with our very own delicious Olive Oil.

Visit the farm animals and vegetable garden "Horta" with its orange grove, grape vines and historic restored Arabian Artesian well.

We have our very own food waste disposal units (Pigs and Poultry). We encourage our guests to reduce the amount of edible refuge during there stay by providing each cottage with containers marked for the Animals.

Boules (Petanque) and Horseshoe Pitching
Set within the landscaped gardens we have created a boules pitch as well as an area for pitching Horseshoes. Both games are fun for all ages and an ideal way to relax on a warm sunny day.

Boules pitch set within the grounds

Car Port Parking Area
We have a covered car port adjacent to our office within 50 meters of the cottages for your convenience.
